The Verkehrswacht Parkplatz GmbH from Dusseldorf belongs in Germany to the largest enterprises in the range of parking space and traffic management. In its 50th anniversary, the company has always grown with the times, grown and opened up new business fields. In addition to a rebranding, it was also time to digitize individual business areas and processes.
Among other things, the Verkehrswacht Parkplatz manages the parking spaces of Messe Düsseldorf, where some of the up to 250,000 visitors per fair can park. Until digitalization, tickets were created by hand and paid for by cash. This process was error-prone and required additional rework. In the core of Februrar 2018 through November 2018, we have fully digitized the ticket sales, monitoring and end-of-day processes in collaboration with Acventis. It is now possible to create the tickets by handheld (APP) and make the payment by cash or credit card. The data of the devices are evaluated in real-time and transferred to a back-end system, whereby the traffic guard is able to react to the changing parking situation during an event and, if necessary, to switch to other areas. In addition, a pre-sale was implemented via a ticket shop, which is integrated into the system. Customers can buy tickets in advance and forecasts can be made about expected Parkers.
